I heard about the D-V58/Cell. What is it?
The D-V58/Cell is a miniature DVR with Cellular capabilities. It can send SMS (short text messages) and e-mail messages with attached images.

Can the D-V58/Cell send MMS (Multimedia) messages to my cell phone ?
The D-V58/Cell is a miniature DVR with Cellular capabilities. It can send SMS (short text messages) and e-mail messages with attached images.

Does the D-V58/Cell work with only with GSM/GPRS ?
Yes. Only GSM/GPRS is supported. CDMA and other cellular networks are not supported.

I got a new D-V58/Cell. What now? How do I get it to work?
First you will need an account with a GSM Cellular provider, such as Cingular or T-Mobile.
You will get a SIM card from the cell. provider. The account you open needs to support GPRS (internet access). You will also need the following:
* APN address.
* APN Username (if needed).
* APN Password (if needed).
* Recommended SMTP server (if there is one).
In the D-V58/Cell Installation Addendum you will find detailed procedure to configure the unit with these details.
Note that D-V58/Cell does not support SSL SMTP servers. .

Are there any recommended settings for the initial testing of the D-V58/Cell ?
Yes! The recommended MemoCam settings for testing are:
Resolution - 320x240
Quality – Low
Also Delete all events so the memory card is empty, and disarm the
D-V58/Cell.
Use only Remote-Control Snapshots to generate images to send.
.

What exactly is in the email message sent by the
D-V58/Cell ?
The D-V58/Cell sends a short text with time, date, and name of unit, as well as reason for sending.
Also all the images recorded in the event are attached .

I’m not receiving emails from the unit. My SMTP server requires SSL ?
The D-V58/Cell does not support SSL SMTP servers at this time. You will have to use a different SMTP server
.

What happens when the power to the DV58 fails? How does the unit handle sending SMS messages and emails if power is fluctuating
?
The DV58/cell discards an event only after it has been fully transmitted. If the unit experienced a failure while transferring, it will try to send it after the next boot, until the event has been sent.

How does the cell keep track of images it has yet to send? For example, if the unit is busy sending images from event 1, how does it keep a note that it has to send images from event 2 that has just written to the card?
The DV58/CELL has a LIFO stuck which holds the last 10 events. If the unit is busy sending the first event, during which time the second event occurs, the last event is "stored" in the stuck, and will be dilled after the current operation has finished .

I tried to set the time zone, change NTP servers, change daylight saving or activate/deactivate NTP according to the manual, but the unit does not accept my command. What is the problem
